Pole, Win, and a Painful Lesson in Vesoul

This past weekend I did a guest race in the KCSH Championship, and it became a weekend of both positives and lessons. The pace was there from the very start, but one mistake proved costly and ultimately took away the chance for the overall win.

Qualifying went perfectly. I was able to put together a clean lap in the short session, which was enough to secure pole position. In the first race I converted that into a win with consistent pace and added the fastest lap for good measure. It was the ideal way to start the event.

The second race was where things went wrong. I misread a flag on the sidelines, thought the race had been ended, and came into the pits. By the time the situation was clear, I had lost any chance of a good result and could only rejoin to finish eighth. It was a simple mistake, but one that carried a big price.

That meant I had to start the final from eighth on the grid. I pushed hard through the field, managed to climb all the way to second, and again set the fastest lap, but the gap to first was too big to close in time.

Overall, I finished third in the event. It was not the result we were capable of, but it still meant another podium, a trophy, and an important lesson learned. Mistakes are part of racing, and the key is to turn them into motivation to come back stronger.
